Alice Kemppainen, aged 66, passed away January 27, 2009 at Condell Medical Center, in Libertyville. Alice was born July 29, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to Stanley and Katherine (Galan) Skrzypek.
She married Roy M. Kemppainen on July 15, 1967 in DeKalb, Il. Alice was a resident of Round Lake Beach for 36 years, She had been employed as a lab technician at Baxter for over 25 years, retiring in 2003. She and her husband Roy were both members of the Finnish Heritage Museum of Fairport Harbor Oh., and the Finnish Society of the Midwest in St. Charles. She was also a very active member of the Round Lake Area Seniors.
Alice was a great cook. Her favorite pastime was sewing and she had started quilting. She also enjoyed attending the Baxter retirees luncheons. She is survived by Scott (Luz) Kemppainen in Round Lake Beach and Dale (Kimberly) Kemppainen of Rockford; and grandchildren, Ryan, Tara, and Krystal. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy, a native Fairport Harbor, Oh resident and graduate of Fairport Harding High (1958), and her parents.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Lisle Kauffman in Round Lake, Illinois. Interment will be in Eas Fox Lake Cemetery, Lake Villa.
