Memorial services for Miss Ruth Hilma Kylmanen, 90, of Perry, were 10 a.m. June 12, 2010, at Zion Lutheran Church, 504 Eagle St., Fairport Harbor.
Ruth died Jan. 3, 2010, at the Lantern of Madison.
She was born Aug. 30, 1919, in Ashtabula.
She was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she had served on the church council, taught Sunday school and belonged to the Rebecca Circle. She was a graduate of Ohio State University and did graduate work at Kent State University. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and was a Martha Holden Jennings Scholar.
Ruth taught school for most of her life, starting in Geneva then Fairport Harbor for 17 years, then finally at Manchester Road Elementary School in Perry.
She is survived by numerous cousins, nephews and nieces, including, Wayne (Sandy) Mietty of Farmington, N.M., Tim (Jennifer) and Brian Mietty, Tammy (Ricci) Wilson, Virginia (Don) Radcliffe, Diane, Kathy and Mark Radcliffe, Ron Conder, Charles Klien, Ron Saari, Kay McMillan and Mildred Laituri. She also leaves her close friends and caregivers, Gary and Gloria Mallory.
The Rev. Hannu Vepsalainen will officiate the services. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery in Ashtabula.
Contributions in her memory may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
Arrangements are being handled by The Potti Funeral Home in Fairport Harbor.
