Alice LeathersFuneral services for Alice (Mattinen) Leathers, 82, of Fairport Harbor, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at Zion Lutheran Church, 508 Eagle St., Fairport Harbor.
Alice passed away Friday, July 25, 2008, at LakeEast Hospital in Painesville with her family by her side.
She was born Nov. 21, 1925, at home in Fairport.
She was a graduate of Fairport Harding High School, Class of 1943. She was employed at Diamond Shamrock until it closed and retired in 1991 from Eltech.
Alice was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church where she dedicated her time and talents, serving on many committees. She had enjoyed volunteering at the church office for the past ten years. She was also an active member of the Fairport Historical Society and The Finnish Heritage Museum. She loved spending time with her family and laughing with friends. She especially enjoyed shopping trips to the Cottage and Marcs with her granddaughter, Nicole and was an avid Tribe fan who never missed a game. She loved her many animals she had over the years.
Survivors are her son, Dale (Judy) Leathers; daughters, Jane (Ed) Rusnack and Sue (Ray) Sanderson; and grandchildren, Nicole (Jason) Snyder, Troy Nethken and Becca Rusnak.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eino Arttur and Aina Aliina Mattinen; brother, Eino Arnold Mattinen; and infant sister, Tain Mattinen.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2008, at the Potti Funeral Home, 538 Fifth St., Fairport Harbor. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or to the Lake County Humane Society.
