tromboneRichard David "Dick" Lehtinen, age 86, passed away Friday, February 27, 2015, at the Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Cleveland.

He was born August 31, 1928, in Cleveland, to Matt and Olga Marie (Davidson) Lehtinen.

Dick graduated with the class of 1946 at Fairport Harding High School. He was a talented trombone player, he played in the High School Band, and was a bandsman in the Military Band.

Dick was a United States Veteran serving in the Air Force and Army during WWII. He attended Bowling Green State University. Mr. Lehtinen was an Engineer for the former Bendix Corporation working with the Avionics Division in Fort Lauderdale. Prior employment was at the Industrial Rayon Corporation.

He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Fairport Harbor where he sang in the choir. Dick was very proud of his Finnish Heritage. He was a member of the Finnish Heritage Museum in Fairport Harbor. He was an accomplished golfer and loved Jazz and was a Mason for 50 years.

Survivors are his daughters, Jan (Dr. David) Bruce of New Orleans, Louisiana and Beverly (Jim) Lehtinen Harbour of Fairport Harbor; granddaughter, Krista Harbour Everson and Laura Bruce; and sister, Norma Harvi of Lady Lake, Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen A. (Raudasoja) Lehtinen .

A Memorial Service was observed at 11:00 am, April 2, 2015 at the Zion Lutheran Church, 508 Fifth Street, Fairport Harbor, 44077. Potti Funeral Homes are handling the arrangements.
