Fairport Harbor Makes Debut at Ohio Travel Showcase
FAIRPORT HARBOR, Ohio – The Village of Fairport Harbor, located 30 miles east of Cleveland on the shores of Lake Erie, will showcase its attractions and charm at the largest regional motorcoach marketplace in the United States for the first time.
Fairport Harbor will unveil its new exhibit boot at Heartland Travel Showcase 2010, today through Sunday at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio.
Village representatives will participate in more than 20 interviews with packaged travel companies throughout the weekend to encourage them to bring tour groups to the last great jewel left untarnished on the crown of Lake Erie’s top destinations.
Attractions to be promoted at the Ohio Travel Showcase include the village’s historical landmarks, including the Fairport Harbor Historical Society Marine Museum and Lighthouse Tower and the Fairport Harbor West Breakwater Lighthouse.
Village representatives will also tout the Finnish Heritage Museum and the popular Historical Walking Tour of Fairport Harbor. Annual events such as Perchfest and Fairport Mardi Gras will also be used to lure visitors to Fairport Harbor.
The Heartland Travel Showcase, produced by the Ohio Travel Association, is an annual event that brings together Midwest travel destinations and packaged travel tour operators. More than 600 hospitality and tourism professionals are expected to attend.
According to research by the American Bus Association, a visit by a one-day motorcoach group can generate between $2,500 and $4,500 in visitor spending. A visit by an overnight group can generate $5,000 or more.
At the event, Fairport Harbor will join destination large and small from the Midwest and surrounding states including Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Ontario, Canada. |
