This association shall be known as the FINNISH HERITAGE MUSEUM. It was incorporated under the General Corporation Act of Ohio as a not-for-profit association and is located in Fairport Harbor, Ohio. This association has several inter-related purposes. One is to preserve and perpetuate Finnish heritage/cultural traditions. Another is to collect, preserve, and exhibit special books, documents, records, and other objects related to the history, biography, genealogy, commerce, and folklore of the Finnish/American population. An educational program related to such objects and traditions is a third purpose. In addition, the association intends to support research and publish information about these collections, to publicly disseminate information about the collections, to celebrate important Finnish historical anniversaries, and to develop an outreach program with schools, libraries, and other organizations to further educate the general public of Finnish heritage in America.
