HELEN ALICE LEHTINEN
Family members present when she passed were her husband Richard, daughters Janis and Beverly, son-in-laws David Bruce and James Harbour and granddaughter Laura Bruce.
Helen was born October 3, 1930 in Fairport Harbor, and was a 1948 graduate of Fairport Harding High School and attended Ohio University.
Helen worked in Painesville’s Probate court and became a certified court reporter.
Richard David Lehtinen and Helen were married on June 15, 1951 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairport and were blessed with two daughters, Janis Elaine (1954) and Beverly Jean (1955).
In 1966, due to Dick’s job in Avionics, the family moved to Maryland, and after six months moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL. There they were both active members in the Christ Methodist Church, singing in the choir over twenty years. Their daughters were also active, singing in the Good News Singers Youth Choir.
Both Helen and Richard retired in 1991 and briefly relocated to Daytona Beach and then moved to the Villages in Lady Lake and were members of the Lady Lake United Methodist Church. In 1999, the couple moved back to Daytona Beach and was active members of the Covenant United Methodist Church.
"Going Home," Helen and Dick started the sumer trips returning to Fairport Harbor, Ohio, where they were actively involved with the Finnish Heritage Museum and socialized with many dear friends and relations.
Husband Richard survives Helen, along with daughters Janis Elaine and Beverly Jean, sons-in law David Bruce and James Harbour, granddaughters Laura Elaine Bruce and Krista Louise Harbour.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Covenant United Methodist Church, 3701 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange, FL 32129. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or the Covenant United Methodist Church - Love Fund.
Rev. Don Tompkins at Zion Lutheran Church, 515 Fifth Street, Fairport Harbor, Ohio, will conduct local services in June. Donations can be directed to Finnish Heritage Museum in memory of Helen. |
